Welcome to Wanna Eat That? (the "App"), operated by Skillazo, Inc. ("Skillazo," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the App.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Key Summary (No Signup App)
- No account required. We do not require an email address, password, or phone number to use the App.
- We associate your app data with an anonymous identifier (a device/session ID).
- We store your scans and history in the cloud so your collections work reliably.
- You can delete your data in the App (Settings → Delete My Data) at any time.
Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
Food Images and Photos. When you scan or import a food photo, we process that image to identify the food using AI. We store the image and related results so you can view it later in your collections.
Swipes and Preferences. We collect your choices (e.g., "Wanna Eat" / "Naah"), your collections, and your interactions with the App to build your taste profile and stats.
Corrections You Submit. If you correct an AI identification, we store your correction so your collection displays the updated name and so we can improve the product experience.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
Anonymous Identifier. We create or use an anonymous identifier (device/session ID) to associate your scans and collections with your usage of the App. This identifier is not your name or email and is not intended to directly identify you.
Usage & Diagnostics. We may collect app activity and diagnostic information (such as feature usage, crashes, and performance logs) to maintain and improve the App. This may include device and network information (e.g., device model, operating system, and IP address) that is commonly processed by mobile apps and service providers for security and performance.
App Preferences (Local). Some settings (such as theme preferences) are stored locally on your device.
3.3 Information We Do Not Require
We do not require you to provide:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your contacts
- Your precise location
- Payment information
- Social media logins
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the App: analyze your photos, display food identifications, save your swipes, and build collections.
- Personalize your experience: generate your taste profile and stats based on your choices.
- Improve the App: debug issues, improve reliability, and enhance features.
- Improve identification quality: use aggregated insights (such as common corrections) to improve prompts, UX, and overall accuracy.
- Enable sharing: generate shareable cards or images when you choose to share.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only as needed to operate the App, including with service providers:
5.1 OpenAI
We use OpenAI's services to analyze food images and produce identification results. When you scan a photo, the image (or a secure link to it) may be sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's handling of data is governed by their policies: https://openai.com/privacy
5.2 Supabase
We use Supabase to store your scans, swipe history, collections, and related data in our database and storage. Supabase's privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
5.3 Expo / React Native Tooling
The App is built using Expo / React Native tooling. Expo may process certain diagnostics or crash information depending on your configuration. Expo's privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy
5.4 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:
- comply with law or legal process,
- protect the rights, safety, and security of Skillazo, our users, or others,
- prevent fraud or abuse.
Data Storage, Security, and Retention
6.1 Storage
Your App data (including images, identifications, and swipe history) is stored using Supabase infrastructure in the region configured for our project.
6.2 Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including:
- encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS),
- access controls and restricted credentials,
- secure cloud infrastructure.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
6.3 Retention
We generally retain your App data until you delete it. You can delete your data at any time through the App (see Section 7). If you uninstall the App, local data on your device is removed, but cloud-stored data may remain unless you use the in-app deletion option.
Your Choices and Controls
7.1 Delete My Data
You can delete your App data at any time via Settings → Delete My Data. This will remove (subject to technical limitations) your:
- scanned images stored for your collections,
- swipe history,
- collections,
- taste profile and stats associated with your anonymous identifier.
7.2 Camera and Photo Permissions
You can revoke camera/photo permissions through your device settings. The App only accesses photos you explicitly choose to scan or import.
7.3 Sharing
If you choose to share a card/image, it may be visible to anyone you share it with (e.g., on social media). Please share carefully.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at privacy@skillazo.co and we will take appropriate steps.
International Users
If you use the App outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this processing.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post updates in the App and revise the "Last Updated" date.
